Humtour Rural Adventures
Sustainability & Biodiversity Action Plan

At Humtour, we believe that one can only get to know a country’s culture through lively and active adventures and experiences.  We also believe that the negative effects of tourism can be minimized and that the advantages of ecotourism can outweigh the negative ones. It can help to preserve traditions, empower local communities and economy, raise awareness of the values of the natural environment and hence can increase people’s consciousness of the visited area.

Objectives

  • Ensure that all our partners share a common understanding of the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles, promoting awareness of the preservation and protection of local traditions, village lifestyle and wildlife.
    • IndicatorConduct personal meetings with each partner and a series of online seminars where we ensure that our partners future developments (relating to tourism, infrastructure, housing, etc) minimizes negative environmental and social impacts. Develop educational and capacity-building programs to teach each stakeholder group to be environmentally responsible and uphold Humtour’s values.
  • Establish a monitoring system, which is in compliance with current rules, regulations, laws, and customary laws at the local and national levels to ensure the protection and conservation of natural resources, and values.
    • Indicator: Annual online questionnaire and partner visit.
  • Ensure that all our tour guides share a common understanding of the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles, promoting awareness of the preservation and protection of local traditions, village lifestyle and wildlife.
Indicator: Conduct personal meetings with all tour guides. Develop educational and capacity-building programs for these occasions.
  • Develop or adopt a management system where we can collect data about our guests (eg. mode of transportation, reviews, footprints, amount of money spent in a community)
  • Develop and implement more tours and packages for companies with authentic experiences, products and services that are produced by local people, reflecting identity, customs, and local values that create memorable experiences for the visitors; for example traditional and culinary products containing local ingredients, or handcraft workshops etc.
  • Invite students and tourism practitioners to study, evaluate and recognize the value of our programs and use them as best practices in their work.
  • Promote sustainable rural tourism and local communities to the mass tourism sector, travel agencies and travel magazines by inviting them to various PR tours
  • Create itineraries for our tours designed to ensure that all travellers can reach the tour destinations by public transport.
