Day trip to Nagymaros – Visegrád

If you think you’ve had enough Budapest buzz, leave it behind for a while for day trip at the Danube Bend to see a bit of the countryside.

One of the most spectacular and scenic part of our country is the Danube Bend, 40 km north of Budapest. In fact, it is the most beautiful stretch of the river’s 3 000 km course from the Black Forest to the Black Sea.

We regularly go for excursions to this wonderful area on weekends.

There’s no direct train service to Visegrád from Budapest. Alternatively we will take a train to Nagymaros from Nyugati Railway Station, and after visiting some places in  Nagymaros, a ferry (rév in Hungarian) will take us across the Danube to Visegrád.

In Nagymaros we will  stay for a coffee and a croissant in „Kis Francia” –  roughly translated means “˜small France’, and if you closed your eyes and forgot you were standing on the banks of the Danube you could definitely believe that this little gem of a cafe was in France.

In Visegrád we’ll visit the beautiful renaissance Royal Palace and of course the Castle of Visegrád which is the most visited sight in the Danube Bend. During our day trip We also visit the Pálinka Museum where you can learn about how pálinka is made, how the illegal distillaries worked during the communism and of course you can also taste the different flavours.

Program includes:

  • A coffee and a croissant in „Kis Francia” in small coffee shop
  • Ferry from Nagymaros to Visegrad
  • In Visegrád we’ll visit the beautiful renaissance Royal Palace and of course the Castle of Visegrád which is the most visited sight in the Danube Bend.
  • Traditional Hungarian lunch in a local restaurant
  • A visit at the Pálinka Museum where you can learn about how pálinka is made, how the illegal distillaries worked during the communism and of course you can also taste the different flavours.

The price of the tour is calculated after having discussed the specific services and programmes that are to be included.
