Birdwatching expedition on the water (Lake Tisza) - Saturday, May 20, 2023
In spring, thousands of birds return to the area where they hatched, including Lake Tisza, which provides an excellent breeding ground for hundreds of protected species.
Come and join us on this beautiful day, even with your friends and family, in a world of its own: the Bird Paradise. It feels like a fairytale landscape come to life for you… Such a wonderful experience to glide in nature in the safest and most special way… It’s like the forest is filled with water and you are floating in it using canoes (as stable as a boat)… And all you have to do is to embrace the special experience…
What stories do the birds tell? Our next location for the Tales of the Land theme is Lake Tisza and the bird reserve. Lake Tisza’s unique natural and aquatic features create a landscape that is unparalleled in Central Europe. On this trip you can admire the incomparable atmosphere of this romantic water world and bird paradise.
The tour starts in the morning to see and hear as many birds as possible. During our outing, we will see everything from wading birds to birds of prey and songbirds, and even beavers if we are lucky.
Lake Tisza is home, feeding ground and shelter for more than 200 species of birds. Our guide is an expert on this special world. We recommend the tour to anyone who loves birds, wants to learn about the different sounds of birds, their breeding habits or their migration.
We also recommend it for people who like photography, who love water and the aquatic world, and for those who can swim (but if you can’t, we’ll give you a vest). We’ll paddle at a comfortable pace for about 6 hours in a 3-4 person canoe (1 or 2 person canoes are also available on request), several times we’ll huddle together, have a snack, hydrate and learn a lot from our guide about birds. (A waterproof phone case and a neck holster are recommended – there are lots of phones in Lake Tisza already).
We meet at 9.00 am at the dock, where we will get our canoes ready – and if you haven’t paddled before, you will of course get a quick lesson – and then we will take to the water.
We’ll touch lookouts, islands and everything else this vast wetland has to offer in a day. We will also eat our lunch we brought with us on the lake while we rest.
Return to the dock at about 15.30.
The program is open to a minimum of 12 adults. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. The tour is not recommended for children under 5-6 years of age.
